My first initial thoughts about "Owl Moon?"
1.) I thought this story was very plain, it didn't have a climax or a problem.
2.) I learned what "owling" is and how you can do it as well.
Maybe explain what owling is?
I agree and probably some more detail like a short paragraph, but I see your point.
@baseballpro - Owling is when you cup your hands and make an owl- like sound. Then, an owl will respond and come to find you.
Not all story's are meant to have problems and action scenes, some books are made to whisper words to you like a quiet poem and leave you calm and happy afterwords. Please explain why you initially thought this book might be plain?
@Condie - I think that this story was plain because it had no climax but after rewding your point, I can think of this book as nonfiction.
Why would you think of it as nonfiction? Is there certain things I said to spark that realization?
The Book "Owl Moon" is okay. At first it was a 5/10 because it seemed like it didn't have a purpose to it but when my teacher read sit and explained it better it our group, it made more sense and I understood it. This book dhas a feel and emotion to it which would be somber and calm.
I do agree with you, although what do you think the meaning and intention is of the book?
I thought this story was boring when I read it for thew first time. But when I read it over, I realized that the story actually has lots of meaning to it, I'm thinking the same thing as Baseballpro. There is a lot of descriptive language in this book, and once you really think about the sentence or word, it egts you thinking about a deeper meaning it could have.
Remember don't just submit when your done read it over to see if you have any grammar issues.
My initial thoughts about is that this book is really slow going and has a lot of meaning to it. Some areas of the story are harder to understand at first, and then you end up understanding it better and realizing all the deep meaning and thought put into the phrase.
Where did you think has meaning in it?
I really think that the meaning of the book is to tell you about Owling. I think, because I am not all that sure yet.
I agree with you. I also think it has a lot of meaning to it.
My thoughts of this book was like a walk or a stroll around the park with the author explaining it to me in depth, quite like it could really touch me on parts of my heart.
My first initial thoughts about Owl Moon is it was boring in beginining, but if you deeper into the language it has lots of meaning to it.
My initial thoughts on Owl Moon was that it had a poem-y feel to it, like a lullaby or a quiet song. It used mainly visualizing words and sentences, giving you words and pictures for you to build up a world in your head. It's a great book for someone who understands deep, meaningful words and meanings, and maybe not for someone who can't invest themselves in a book.
Wow! Connie how do you right so much detail onto a post.
I don't know, I have a knack for writing I guess, also a large vocabulary helps.
Yup I guess.
We had to re-read it to deepen our thinking. I thought it was interesting.
@V.2KX: I know what owling is but some other people may not. Just saying.
When I read owl moon yesterday I thought it was a really powerful story and I thought the pictures meant more than the words. The words though did touch my heart since they were so powerful to me.
Why we're thY so powerful? Why do u think they touch your heart?
What does everyone think the brother told the daughter about owling?
Well, there could be lots of story been told to her. Wich made her very excited to go Owling for the first time. So I would imagine that they told her some neat things.
That's a really good answer because that's something along the lines that I was thinking.
Or story's can go on around the house about going owling think on that.
Well when you think of it, I say she was told stories about owling and how fun and exciting it could be when you try it. So like SAM said, I would also imagine that they told her neat things about it.
At first I thought it was just a random book about a girl and her dad but after reading it and talking with people in my group i learned more about it that since she have brothers she might now to spend time with her dad alone.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
